Well the SIL and I are heading up next weekend to set the Quad Stands and Put the Blinds up on them and the Tr-Pod. Probably will do some cutting to open up some lanes once I see what it looks like from the Stands.

Really hope some of the seed took off this time. Hardest piece to get something to grow in I've seen yet.

Well the Hurricane that was supposed to hit us screwed our plans for that weekend.

So we have set a new date of next weekend to get up and set the new stands, fill the feeders, and check the cams.

I wish it were closer and I could go more often, but I’m glad we have something to call ours even if it is a lease.

Bone dry up here. Drought conditions with no rain in the 10 day forecast. Might have to wait until November to plant because October is typically our driest month.

Interesting. Down here we are getting our normal Rains almost every afternoon.

I went out fishing on the St Johns River and it was way up, like 3-4 feet high.

Leaving in the morning for NHHC. Got to admit I'm getting a little excited to just be back there again.
See if anything of the seeds took this time, Check the Feeders and the Cams watching them, Get the stands I bought last Spring on sale finally up and ready for Hunting.

I'll make one more trip before Archery opens to check the Feeders again and Cams.

We worked hard the last couple of days putting stands together and putting blinds over them.

I chose the Quad Pods from Academy Sports and I’m very glad I did. Lots of room and they come with a Double Seat that swivels 360*.

For now that works. Later I might take that out and put in single chairs. We’ll see.

Btw these fit perfect inside the shooting rail. The blind from Academy I read didn’t last and these did, so went that option.

I tried using the Video Option on my cams and I will say I didn’t care for it.

Number One is there is no date n time stamp.Doesn’t do me any good to see deer and not know when they are there.

I took a few pics of the new largest buck that has showed this year. Had to use the phone and take it off of a frozen screen on the laptop, so not the best but gives you the idea.

What kind of camera are you running? That seems like it may be a glitch. I have never had a camera that would run video without the normal info strip.

It’s a Stealth Cam combo (2-pack) from Sam’s Club.

I had the same on 2 or more cams.

It time for another Run to Camp. Leaving soon as I get the trailer loaded. Plan is to mow again and re-fill the Feeders and hopefully set my last stand.

I got the Cams all on Picture so hope to see what is hitting the Feeders now.

All the work is coming down to This Weekend for our Archery Opener. I've been watching guys post their Pics of the Bucks they have been taking since July in South Florida, driving me crazy.

One thing that is sort of confusing to me is, last year I had TONS of Bucks on pics all over the Property at this point. This Year almost NONE.

Biggest difference is last year Hurricane Michael hit on Oct 10 and most of my pics were in the weeks leading up to that. I wonder of the Deer were on the move North and away from the Coast in some sort of Nature's Way of protecting them. This year a few Does and a coupe of smaller Bucks. Last year the Storm Shook all the Acorns down, so that could be part of it too, as they are starting to drop now own their own.

Time will tell.

True, and there are lots of them scattered all over that area. Both on ours and the neighbors property.

I have one stand in a Big Oak that is one of their natural travelways, and another that leads from the thickets to the Oaks.

Yes it is. They are up and moving more then (Jan-Feb) and the Cams prove that.

However I had TONS of pics of both Bucks and Does moving in Daylight last year during early Archery. Hoping to drive a few Bolts thru some this year.

Saw deer every day I hunted. What a change from last year!

I’m allowed 5 this year, 2 can be Doe, so I’ll be a little more selective from here out. Good to take my first off the property.

Took a small but legal buck. Good for eating.

Another Hunt on the Property and another Successful one!

Was able to take my first Florida Doe this time and she gave me quite the tine in finding her.

Rained for two hours from 1-3:00 pm and I shot her at 4:38 pm. Lots of blood at first then it got mixed in with leaves with red spots on them and with the wetness from the rain everything looked lime blood under a flashlight.

Lost the trail and had to call in a Blood Tracker. None could come until the next morning but when she did her dogs took us right to her.

As a side note I tried something different with this deer. I never gutted it.

I had read about this technique and wanted to try it. By hanging the deer up by the hind legs then working the hide off down to where I cut it and the head off of the neck.

Next starting at the neck took all the meat off, ending with just the two hind quarters left. Split the pelvis and trimmed the back edge of the Gut Sack which exposed the Inner Tenderloin. Lastly took off the hind quarters and there was the Bones with the Gut Sack left inside the carcass.

Put it all in my Scrap Tub and hauled it away to our Dump Site.

It was super easy and no hair ever left on the meat. It will be the only way I’ll do it now.

Looks like a good shot. How far did she go from the shot? My buddy has lost 2 to arrows on the lease....blood just ran out. You just happen to know the dog tracker? We could have used one for his two deer!

That's the only way I clean my deer. I actually get all the neck and belly meat so I can average 33% or more yield; up to 40% on a buck.
