Maple syrup

I really want to try and tap some walnuts in the future. I heard it is better than maple and I have enough walnuts to give it a try. Weather is so unpredictable here that I feel like trying to get the right highs and lows would be a real crap shoot.

Here ya go Turkey. Tapped a walnut a few weeks ago. Have sap in the fridge. Takes 60 gallons to make 1 gallon. An issue we have is storage until you cook it down. Up north they fill totes up with sap and throw it in a snowbank. Down here we have to keep it from spoiling other ways. I don't have room for 100 gallons of sap in my beer fridge.

Have you made walnut syrup before? If so did you like the taste.... I guess if you have you must have liked it or you wouldn't be doing it again! LOL We have a good number of walnuts on our land and the neighbors do as well. I am sure I have enough trees to make 60 gallons of sap in short order if I had the equipment and the time.

This is a first try for me. Never tasted it before.

I bet if you got the beer out you'd have room. But I'd never ask anyone to go that far.😁
