2026 BLIZZARD

It looks like I will be moving more snow than building barns for a few days. Hopefully everyone stays safe and respects the power that mother nature has.
I just read an article from the Associated Press with a lot of dire warnings on it about the coming snow storm this weekend and a lot of the words used read like "widespread outages, challenging, punished with ice, devastating, potentially catastrophic, multiple blasts of snow, unrelenting freezing, great swaths’ of heavy snow, etc".
However, the one word that I did not read in the entire article that would probably apply to the predicted storm well was the word "normal". It is mid winter, folks, and in the first thirty years of my life, before we were smart enough to know what a polar vortex was, this type of weather was generally reported as a normal winter storm. It would have needed to get a lot colder than this with a lot more snow to have been called extreme in 1975, back then we'd often see some minus temps in mid to late January.
But, this is 2026, we've gotten soft, and the sky is falling in 😮

Lol, we don't winter like you guys do up north but storms happen. Used to be a tornado had to be spotted for a "tornado warning" to be broadcast. Now every little thunderstorm seems to get the horns blaring.

Good luck and stay safe out there this weekend! My oldest is in Nebraska, the youngest is a town over at a friend's, I'm at home, and the wife is at her mother's who just got released from the hospital but is still in a wheelchair due to a car wreck. We likely won't see any of each other for a few days.

We get a lot of work from trees. I rebuilt one garage three times with insurance money. The trees were on the neighbors property and there was no way to make them cut their trees, one by one they would smash the garage.
I hope you have your local carpenter on speed dial. I got a call from a good client in Essex MD this morning, ice from the storm took off 80 feet of gutter, facia, and soffit from his building. We'll go fix it before the weekend because more bad weather is a possibility.

Today and tomorrow some of this snow will melt off. Then this weekend it’s supposed to get cold again. If the forecast holds we will get back up into seasonal temps early next week — highs in low 40s and lows in 20s.
we'd take those numbers! It's a bit odd but for our area in PA the long range Accuweather forecast is showing unseasonably cold for the most of February. And early next week they're calling for high's in the mid 20s and lows around 10 which is colder than our average February...
