Its funny you mention that because I had the same thoughts. I've never seen a massive impact on fawn numbers vs. coyotes in my area, I'm sure there is to some degree. But hell I've watched one year old fawns chase off wandering coyotes, between that and good cover I think the yotes, from what I've seen, don't do a tremendous amount of damage, thats visible anyways in my neighborhood.Like boot said; mangy yotes are easier to call and trap.
I've never had a problem with yotes as I've never seen an issue with fawning (most of our does have twins in the fall so there isn't much fawn predation). But when I'm on the deer forums it seems everyone hates yotes and wants them gone. They get blamed with fawn predation a lot, why be concerned with mange and bury them if you want them gone?

I get that, I don't like seeing any animal suffer and mange would SUCK! Honestly I've been watching mangy yotes survive our (Kansas) winters for decades. They seem to find a way. The last time I remember mange not being a common disease was in the 80's when fur prices were decent and trapping was common. Once the market dropped and trapping became less common mange jumped in population. Mother nature basically says "if you don't control them I will".I don't want them gone. I hate seeing them in such bad shape. I kinda wonder if it hasn't been getting cold enough for long enough to "take care" of the problem lately.
