I love my 1911....I mean the one I used to have....
I have a matte stainless colt combat target model...dang it...used to have...in 45acp. It was my primary carry firearm, before I lost it fishing one day.... I'm a bigger fella (6 feet plus and 275) so I could hide it fine. It was also the first thing I grab when something goes bump in the night at the house.... I live out in the country so my 9-1-1 comes with a "1" in front of it!
I like the simplicity of them and everybody under the sun seems to make various upgrade parts and the like for them. I bought mine prior to the poly frame guns really catching on. I like a single stack pistol as I feel like I have a better grip on them as well vs the double stack pistols. Yes I know that double stack tends to mean more ammo in the gun. But with 45 acp...the plan is to only have to shoot once! I would also stick with reputable manufacturers. Nothing drives me crazy more than when I hear people say..."I'm buying it for protection, but I don't want to spend a lot of money" Well....my thought is, apparently you don't think your life is worth a lot then! I'm not saying you need a $1,000 pistol, I am saying if you are going to defend your life with it...get something of quality, which comes at a price.
I can't say I am familiar with the SDS brand....
