Live from the Stand - 2025

Today is the season opener for PA special regulations areas, an area about a tenth of the state. I'm in the stand in Chester County 35 miles west of Philadelphia in 75 degree heat at 4:30 pm watching some acorn bearing oaks and 2 pear trees on my right, there's a standing cornfield a quarter mile away on my left on a neighboring property. A buzzard is helping me keep watch, he's expecting a big gutpile.

Good luck. I'm taking off hunting for a few days because my target buck has disappeared. Others still coming in, but I'm only interested in him.

I’ve been hunting since August 15, but nothing interesting to report. I’ve taken my 3 year old son a few times.

No huge bucks on camera this year. I’ll shoot an old buck and some does and enjoy teaching the next generation.

I hunted opening morning of archery season for first time in many years. Two reasons - weather was cooler and 10 yr old grandson was ready for his 1st solo sit with his compound bow. Couldn’t miss that moment.

My view from the stand about 150 yds from grandson.

Brooks was fortunate to arrow one of our target bucks that afternoon.

You get some rain yet?

Sorry but why would anyone want to hunt if they knew every deer on the property because of a non fair chase up to the second trail cam. It's just mind numbing. Hopefully states will ban them and SOON.

Wow, That's a red letter day right there! Grandson's first hunt, and a big 9 point, that's the moments we live for, it just doesn't get any better than this.
Gathering together around the fire that evening and re-living the hunt is just as good as the hunt itself. Isn't that a pretty big buck for Georgia pinelands country?
