Just put in two plums and a peach

I just planted two plums and a peach from my local big-box on sale. Full sun on the edge of a field. I fenced them. Anything else special I need to do?

Add some sort of weed protection. I recommend a large piece of cardboard as it will deteriorate over time with the weather.

Be careful with weed barriers. Mice and voles love it under there. Consider protecting the trunk with some wire screen if you're going to use it.

I pulled all my landscape fabric from around my fruit trees this year. Research shows a decrease in 0 into the ground and a decrease CO2 out of the ground. The fabric plugs up and all of the weeds grow very well on top of it, hence the liberation.
