What has happened is over a period of a few years and a Generation, Hunters have been Conditioned to Believe that all they have to do is Show Up, climb into a Blind or Stand and within a day or two a Huge Buck will come walking by. So the Reality Hunter finds that when that doesn't happen he quickly gets discouraged and goes home.
The Love of Horns and Inches has created another issue. Time was when you hunted for the simple joy of it and any Buck taken was a Trophy to that Hunter. Now if you haven't passed up a dozen or so "cull" bucks and don't have every Buck on your "hit list" named, you are doing Hunting wrong.
That last part might not set well with some on this forum, but that's ok we are all allowed to have our own opinions that may not match others.
