Homemade Ground Socket

I've been wanting to have a deer hoist outside of my shop, but I didn't want it to stay up all year around. I also have a park grill that I wanted to take down during the winter. I decided to build a ground socket and it worked out perfect. Thought I would share it.

Looks like a pretty cheap solution. We are putting a pickleball court in the driveway of our retirement home. Since it will double as a driveway and parking area, we will be using a portable net. This might be a good idea for the ends of the court. I could put a couple of these at each end of the court and string a snow-fence between them so we don't have to chase pickleballs as far.

I will probably adapt the idea as I probably don't need anything as heavy duty as this one is.

One more thing that I would add to this idea. I would take a small scrap of the post to be inserted in the sleeve and weld a flat cover over it. When the hoist or what ever item you are inserting is not in use, I'd install that cover so rocks and other debris don't enter the pipe sleeve.

We like our SwiftNet pickleball net, lightweight, portable, and strong.
