Has anyone checked Ammo prices today?

One of my suppliers has 5000 rounds of .22 LR ammo for $999. Yes that is nine hundred ninety nine dollars. Plus shipping. The same Aguilla ammo I bought a couple months ago for $189 for the same amount.

Every now and then I do something smart. Post Obama and pre Pandemic I stocked up. Actually I stocked up some calibers pre Obama, but I shot some of it up. :) When the excrement hits the ventilator my house is gonna be a good place to be, and my son’s house is gonna be even better. He lives about 300 yards from me........
 
I would not plan on ammo prices to go down or the ammo availability problem to improve significantly for a while. In fact, maybe for quite a while.

Better wait to see how severe the current shortage is going to be before you burn up too much of your big stockpile. If Trump gets reelected prices should ease off a bit, but Kamala would probably be the best ammo salesman since Remington purchased the Peters Cartridge Company in 1934.

I’m right there with you MM, although I just today got my Ruger .41 back from the ‘smith. Action job and mounted a reflex sight on it, so when we get rid of these sauna type mornings here in a few days I have to shoot it a little. I have about a thousand cast bullets and plenty of powder though......;)

I see that reflex sight. I'd always heard that ya'all real cowboys use your reflexes to shoot them pistols!

If I had eyes like a schoolboy I wouldn’t need that sight MM, but retina damage in my right eye and just general old age in my left leaves me needing a little help. I can still hold my own up close and personal but for hunting I need the crutch.

And by the way, I ain’t ever been a cowboy ! I was raised on a dairy, and I can tell you that the only thing dumber than a cow is a chicken, and the only place I want either is on my plate !:D

Ever try chasing pigs? A hog is dumber even than a cow or a chicken. But horses are one of the smartest animals on the farm. Raised on a dairy is a good upbringing. By the time you were a teenager, or, probably long before that, you already knew how to work.

10-4 on the learning how to work ! I was the official feed boy, bag washer, crap shoveler and wash up helper. And I let the cows in the lane to the dairy barn.

I have to disagree with you on the hogs though, domestic hogs don’t have to be very smart, but wild hogs are smarter than deer if they are pressured. I’ve seen big boar hogs circle corn piles at a distance two or three times before they would commit. If you were bowhunting, you were busted ! At night, they get a whole lot braver, or maybe dumber. o_O
 
Haven’t looked for ammo lately, but I can say I was working at at place that sold guns when President Obama was elected for his 2nd term.

My boss said that his winning was the best thing that ever happened to gun sales.

We had one guy that came in and bought a shotgun every week for about 2-months straight. His reason? When January came and Obama stopped all gun sales they would be worth double what he paid.

Of course that never happened.

But we sure sold a bunch of guns over the period from November to January.

And the only piece of gun legislation that Obama signed into law was to allow us to legally take our guns into jellystone park.

I think sales will be pretty good with Joe coming.

With the exchange rate your prices would still be about $325 US or more for a case of 5000 rounds. Back in the spring my son bought two cases (5000 rds.) for $189.99 each US.
 
That is a reasonable price for .22 ammo $325/5000rds.

If our village idiot (Justin Trudeau) keeps banning guns we will have an ammo surplus on our hands in the near future!
 
I’m not shooting nearly as much as I typically would. I’m in decent shape on the ammo side, but have seriously considered paying outrageous prices for primers (I’ve got plenty of bullets/powder). The world is crazy...and if polls are anywhere near correct, online ammo, gun parts and reloading components will all be at risk. FYI, we’ve been subject of online ammo ordering prohibition since just after Sandy Hook. It sucks as local gun stores rarely have ammo for my Weatherbys or more unusual cartridges like my 7mmSTW. What really pisses me off is the prohibition was put in place so they could run background checks on all ammo purchases. The thing is, they’ve never funded the ammo background check process. It’s clear to me this was always just a hoax to chip away at gun rights....

Happy to report the LGS came through for me with 3 boxes of much needed primers. At least my load testing can continue:)

What is to prevent you from hauling it in from elsewhere?
