Grafting tool

I got one last year because I was having surgery on my right thumb. I grafted 50 apples and 50 pears. I got about ten apples to take and about four pears. I managed to do about ten grafts with a knife. They all took. I took my grafting tool out of my grafting box and left it on the shelf this year.

Thanks. That's exactly the feedback I was looking for.

I usually go to Cummins grafting class for something to do in March every year. The last two years there have been guys in the class who have one of these tools. They reported success rates similar to Headdigger and said regular grafting knives and cuts do much better for them as well.

i have one of them. Used a few times. I get better unions using a knife. Practice knife cuts. You get longer cambium contact with a knife compared to this tool

I saw a test done with them on YouTube a while back. They had similar results as stated above. Supposedly commercial versions are used in Europe a lot but almost exclusively for walnuts.

I got one several years ago, and have only had around 10% success rate using it. I don't use it anymore.
