Fixing a Browning Trail Camera

Recently had a woodpecker go to town on a new camera. He knocked the cover off of the PIR sensor. Browning's warranty does not cover animal damage, so I am ordering a new PIR lens cover. My thought is to put it in with a very thin bead of silicone. Has anyone ever attempted to repair one of these? Any reason that won't work? Thank goodness I got to it before any rain or snow got in there...

I think you are on the right track. My problem, and I don't know if it will be yours, is making sure the "weld" is totally watertight. Moisture just seems to find every available entry point. My cameras are out 24 x 7 x 365. Time takes it's toll. I've used silicon to from a new gasket around the door. It seems to work ok. My friend and fellow hunter is a scuba diver. He says there's a type of seal (silicon?) they use to fix whatever it is they need to fix. I've not tried it.

That is my concern. I need to look it up. From what I understand, there are two types of silicone. One that sticks to everything, and one that doesn't stick to anything... I had better get that right... Haha!

I may have a part that would fit,i would just use clear caulking.After pulling card from on of my 2 browning cams and of course no pics in a week.I hate these cameras when they don't work.Moultrie is the only brand that seems to work more than a year.But if you need any parts let me know

I've actually had pretty good luck with my Browning's. I have two of the Dark Ops. they are both 2+ years old and are left out 24-7. They are all great when they work I suppose!

For years I bought only Bushnell. Then, I bought two used ones, a Bushnell and a Browning. That Browning is still going, and probably the best camera of the dozen that I own. I used to replace my defunct cams through Bushnell at a modest discount, but it's Browning from now on for me. Got to remember that they are all made in China, so.........

I’ve had good luck with my 1 exodus. I feel like their video is better than picture. I have lots of of Browning cameras. They last longer than the Bushnell but are far from bullet proof. I still feel the older coverts are the most reliable. I’m happy to sacrifice picture quality for reliability.
