Dozer Root Rake advice

Well guys I am looking for some advice on what to buy or make for my D6 dozer for a root rake. I have been using my excavator to pull the stumps then pushing them and tree tops to the edge with the dozer. I am thinking of adding a root rake to help speed up the process and save the top soil. the price that I have been seeing on the internet makes me think of buying one instead of building one. Has anyone on here used these or have any experience with one? Thanks guys.

I've been researching this, and i'm thinking of buying the 84" heavy duty root grapple with replaceable teeth pictured below from an attachment dealer in Ringoes NJ for $1650 but I really wanted 96" to put on the FEL of my 75hp tractor for land clearing and brush cleanup. The nice feature with this unit is that you can roll the grapple forward and rake in reverse to clean up coming and going. Unfortunately 96" is going to cost $1000 more from a different source.

An excavator and a rake on a dozer is a great way to clear land. I would buy over trying to build, and I love to weld.....
Push it to a location with dozer then you can stack an burn with the excavator.

If I were to buy one, it would be what they call a "flop rake". It pins to ears on top of your dozer blade and is relatively easy on and off. One person can usually do it by himself.

. I found the distance from the fel to the tires being kinda long makes it a little harder to keep grade. Plus I think it would put extra wear on the fel. I have this one 84” for my track loader. If you would like to try it befor you buy one your more than welcome to come borrow it.

Thanks, that's a very generous offer. I'm not to concerned about FEL wear, I'd only use the attachment a couple days a year. I do know what you are saying about keeping grade with an AG tractor when you are used to track machines. A tractor is only a weekend machine to play around with a bit, but my projects aren't huge, just too much to do by hand. I've got some field edge piles that have brush, stumps, trees and topsoil mixed from clearing with a dozer, and I think this would be the perfect type tool to separate the dirt from the junk. I also want to make several 1/2 acre shooting plots in early growth woods with mostly brush and nothing bigger than 3 -6", and having a 75hp tractor with FEL already, a grapple for it seems to make the most sense for my needs. I have a 9' wide 3point blade that I really like for making new fields that would work well in combination with a grapple. Normally I would just bring in a big machine and get the project done, but I'm at the final finetuning stages of my plots, and am only making small changes as I dream them up. I'm probably going to be clearing/moving a few random brush piles many years. If you find more ideas for roots and brush clearing I'm all ears.

Well i tried to buy a rake for the dozer and after I started to contact the builders and after I looked at what they had to sell, I decided to build my own. should have it done next week. Ill post pics when done.

I just bought a new wildcat heavy duty 84" root grapple for $1600, had to run to NJ to get it for that price. Going to use it on my New Holland 4.75 4wd tractor to clear brush. I'm waiting for your pics.

Please show some before and after pics of it in use.

Ok, once I get it going. Grapple has standard skidloader couplers. Stupid New Holland dealer sold me a new 655TL factory FEL and doesn't even know what oddball third function hydraulic fittings are on it, gave me the wrong ones after scratching their heads for a half hour. Of course, I've got a 2 hour drive to my place to discover this. Has 2 female 3/8" flat face couplers... you'd think a dealer would know what they are selling. Can't fix stupid.

I feel your pain with that. Yesterday I picked up this like new Bobcat snow blower and had a time trying to figure out the bobcat wiring. Dealer wasn’t much help. So I just made a complete harness from solenoids to my machine.

. Got the snow fleet ready for action and now they downsized the storm. Go figure. Lol

Quick questions... how much did you have to pay for your AR? Looks like you have access to CNC plasma for your cuts. Did you program it or find a pattern somewhere?
Looking good so far!

I think the 5’x8’ plate was around $1500. I own my own table and I have engineers working here so it’s convenient to do these kinda projects
