Clear Creek Farm

Just finished read of history on those cattle. So interesting. Long horn strains are popular in my area but first time for me on the Piney strain. I enjoy your love of the land, it shows. Cool read, thanks for showing.
Thanks

Getting dove field ready today. 3 acres of millet raked into rows and burned.

I can definitely smell it. Between the dust and smoke I probably will have major sinus trouble

Have not updated in a while so I thought I would share some pictures of the newly planted longleaf and a couple pictures of the clover before and after the drought. I was amazed at how well it came back once we finally starting getting some rain in December.

Have not updated in several months. I tried my luck at grafting this spring using 4 flap on some of my young pecans. I had 3 of the 4 take and are doing great, so I am pleased with that.

Here are pics of my Pineywoods cattle. I posted pics of the young bull several months ago and these two young heifers have been hopefully breed now. Maybe I'll have some calf pics in the near future. I'm grazing them in some longleaf that were planted in old fields and clearcuts. my goal is to be a farm using silvopasture one day.

Last picture for today. This is my favorite spot on the farm. A wet weather bottom runs right through the middle of property and this one area has several bald cypress growing. This one is occupied by honey bees. The bees work in and out of this three by the thousands.

Your pecan looks great. Good luck with farming plans. I know cows will tromp down everything in the woods but we had a few eat the wrong plants and got bloated!
Got that dove field going this year?
