Chestnuts in MN zone 4B

Does anyone have experience planting chestnuts in MN zone 4B? from the research ive completed, Luvall’s Monster seems like the most cold hardy option. http://www.redfernfarm.com/chest_trees.htm sells them & i might try some out. any advice is appreciated

I believe RedFern would be a great source of seedlings / chestnuts for your zone. They are a leader in the northern growing zone. Establish that relationship and follow their advice.

East Bethel - My property is on the 3a and 4b zone line. I have also been in search of Chestnut options. Here is another nursery I have purchased from in the past: apple, crab apples and pears. They are my front runner to purchase chestnuts seedlings from: http://www.morsenursery.com/index.php?cPath=1&pID=764 I have had better luck with the shipment from MI to MN with the smaller seedlings.

I tried dunstans a few years ago and they didn't do so good. It could have been my fault, too much $$$ to keep experimenting without positive results for me. Good luck
