Yep. I actually put my plots in strips to keep natives and their deep roots near them. Those deep roots mine mineral, infiltrate water, and harbor beneficial microbes and invertebrates. I like to keep all that within reach of my non-native plantings. Unfortunately my attempts at a yard didn't foster that. Buffalo grass is native here and tough as nails. It get first bidding if reseeding needs done.I guess that's life in Kansas. 150 years ago, those planes were growing deep rooted native grasses that weren't much effected by dry spells.
