Cabelas trail cameras

Yesterday I ended up taking another moultrie camera back due to not working. The lady informs me that the Cabelas cameras have a lifetime warranty. Does anyone on here run Cabelas trail cams? If so, what models and are you satisfied?

Not to take you off topic, but for what it's worth I've never had to return a Bushnell. I'm sure someone will tell us who makes the Cabelas cameras.

I know with any thing else that says Cabelas, they will pretty much tell you to get a new one off the shelf or you get a gift card if you want your money but don’t have a reciept

They had a great reputation a couple years ago, but I don't remember which model. I'd take one for a test drive and save your receipt, Cabela's is pretty easy to deal with.

Anything is better than a browning,I had 2 and one would hardly ever take a pic,sent in twice no change,said to use dedicated cards and lithium batteries worked once then about every other week after,now other one doing same thing.I bought an exodus and it seems ok,they also have a good warranty,other than that it's moultries or old bushnells

I run more than a dozen Browning's. Well over 100,000 pics without a problem. Favorite is the Strike Force.

That’s what I was planning on purchasing. Just the lifetime warranty on the cabelas has me thinking. Not only for the normal mechanics of them, but the nosey bear every now and then that wants a chew toy

I can’t say how good the cabelas cams are, but the lifetime warranty is certainly something to consider. We have run 10 bushnell cams for the last 6 years. Back when they had 2 yr warranty, we had about 3 replaced per year for runaway trigger. About every year we have 2 start with the runaway trigger and kill a set of lithiums in a day. Now with the one year warranty, the cams are usually just out of warranty and bushnell charges us about $100 to send us a new cam in exchange for the faulty one.

I’m gonna pick one up next week and get it out in the mountains. I’ll have to report back in a month and see how it’s performing. Sounds like if they are decent, you may want to consider them also. I’m gonna make sure to get the warranty very clearified by the return desk. I

I have one of them. Out of our dozen or so cameras it is my favorite. It's about 5 yrs old and takes beautiful pictures and has worked flawlessly for us. It's a IR model.

Same here. In fact, I have never had a browning strike force just up and quit that wasnt flooded. That said, lifetime warranty on a trail cam is something to consider. I would certainly read the small print - almost too good to be true.

The guarantee says guaranteed for the life of the product; I'm not so sure that is a lifetime guarantee. I'm not really sure what the life of the product means. Products don't have pre-defined lives or really any. This just doesn't sound right.

Right. There has been this discussion before on trail cams. The original purchase has the warranty. Once it goes they will replace it but that's the end of the product. You don't get lifetime warranty on the replacement.

My experience with Cabela's lifetime warranty is this:
I had some pacs that were fairly old...let's say 10 years. They were leaking so I chatted up a Cabela's rep. He looked up my past orders and found them. I said these are Lifetime Warranty and he said "you got some good long wear out of them so we are not going to replace them". I said "It's a lifetime warranty though". He said "Yes, for the life of the product. You got a long life out of them. Is there anything else I can do for you?"

So good luck pinning them down to the definition of "lifetime of the product".

I live within 20 minutes of a Cabelas store. A couple years ago, I had a pair of Rockey bear claw boots that got to be in rough shape after 12 years of use. Took them into the return counter with no reciept and told the lady the are starting to leak. I got a store credit for $10 more than I paid for them 12 years prior.

So I picked up a Cabelas camera. They had it on sale for $119. One thing it didn’t have that I would have preferred is a passcode to operate. It also didn’t have a way to lock the camera shut. So I will have to get a lock box for it. I put it out Friday afternoon. I checked it Saturday afternoon to make sure it was functioning and had several pictures, one being a nice size black bear. It only captured one pic of it walking across. I think it should have been able to get more than one pic as I had the setting to have no delay. The upside is, it does have a little viewing screen. It came in handy as my 3rd moultrie sd card reader that I plug into my iPhone took a shit. I will most likely get back to camp in August and take the laptop to get a full size view of the pics and decide if I like it or not.

I threw my Moultrie SD Card reader in the ditch last fall. Those things are garbage in my opinion...

What do you use now? I’d like to be able to check them in the woods. But I’m getting tired of replacing them.
