I never had much success planting anything in July because it's almost always too hot and dry. The times that i planted a PTT, DER, and GHR mix in mid June they looked absolutely fantastic by mid October, and the deer got a lot more use out of that planting than my normal late August planting.

So far this year I’m pleasantly surprised by my early planting. I did a kill and throw in a spot I wasn’t planning on planting anything but experimented at these guys recommendation. I only broadcasted 6 pounds and I should have gone with 12. But it’s bonus food in my opinion since I wasn’t planning on planting it, just not the prettiest. I also went with a late July planting on another acre and that has decent growth already into, what I believe is, it’s second leaf stage. I should have plenty of food this year.
