Best Tree Stand

This is my entire setup for a mobile, run-n-gun hunt.
I can grab this pack, grab my bow, and hit the woods.

My climbing method is climbing spurs

My saddle acts like my linesman belt and as my stand. I don't use the drill and bolts much now that I have the spurs.

This is the setup, minus the spurs, in climbing mode. (Attached with a linesman belt, instead of tethered to the tree)

If you are looking for lightweight, mobile, hang anywhere..... a saddle is where it's at.

Saddles definitely have their place. I mostly like mine but, for an all day, 11 hour sit, I like a hang on better.
There isn't a perfect stand for all applications.

I have two different stands but my stand of choice is the Summit Viper. I put a rifle rest from tree lounge on and am happy with the set up. For bow hunting I have a Summit Cobra. The difference between the two is the front rest so one (Viper) I sit and climb while the Cobra is a little more cumbersome but not bad. No matter what you do I recommend wearing a harness. Summits come with a harness but I have bought one I like better. Good luck searching. There are many to choose from.

Before three knee surgeries I hunted out of Summit stands. Well made and heavy duty. This year with bad knees, bad back, and a couple of shoulder surgeries, I have had to become a ground hunter. I found a Home Made tree seat on the internet that is made out of scrap plywood, and 3/8" Manila Rope. It was developed by Dean Torgus. I built a version of his stand and like it a lot. It's quiet, quick to rope to a tree, and very light weight. It took about 30 minutes to cut out the seat, and drill three holes. I have about 6' of rope on the ones I have built. I hang it around my neck and carry it in the woods behind me. This seat works on nearly any tree, include small ones in thick dense areas.

This sounds similar to a Onehair seat or Preachers seat.

The millenium M7 microlite is a big hit among public land hunters. I

I combine it with muddy prosticks. It's about the lightest combination possible in a hang-on set up.

The Dean Torres seat. Simplicity itself, but not for use above ground level. I’ve killed several gun season deer off of several versions of these.
