Bear for dinner

Had NC bear steaks for dinner. Neighbor shot one and gave me a bunch of meat. I tried thin backstrap on the grill with salt and pepper, absolutely delicious.

I canned the rest. Apparently bear doesn’t last too long in the freezer due to fat content.

Yep. Required and well done bear meat is great. Has a lot of fat.

Canned bear meat is the BEST. More tender than deer. Also have heard it’s good in burger, but haven’t tried that or steaks like you.

First time eating bear steak, was really surprised how good it was. Lots of bad rumors on the flavor of bear meat.
