I've been reading this site for a while now and am also a member over at habitat talk. There are some great guys over there and I've noticed that many of them are over here too. There are lots of parallel discussions between the two sites but also unique topics to go along with that.
I have a small property, 36 acres, in east central Missouri. I live in the Suburban St. Louis County area. I'm a lifelong hunter but we have only had our own place for about a year. My adult sons and I have really enjoyed making changes to the habitat and are already seeing the improvements have an effect.

Thanks. I live in Wildwood but my property is near Cuba, Mo. it's definitely nice to see some others from the area so we can compare notes. Hopefully you guys have avoided trouble with all the flooding. I don't live near any of the rivers but We lost part of our road out at our property. Working now on fixing that with a permanent solution.

I drive 44 thru Cuba to get to my property. I get off at St,James and go north. I have a creek crossing I will be blading on my next trip out the farm that washed out pretty bad.

Hey Everyone, glad I found this place. Look forward to get the chance to speak with like minded individuals.
Was primarily drawn in for the habitat discussion, but also enjoy all aspects that come with it, primarily bow hunting.
Own a qrt. of ground that I have been helping manage since I was knee high to my father.
Primarily native grassland with Switch, Big Blue, Indiangrass.
Sprinkled in with 7 acres of food plots, an roughly 30 acres of cattail sloughs
In that time thousands of trees have gone in( spent some long days hand weeding around yearling cedars, now over 15ft) and still going in to this day.
Just planted 10 apples on Tuesday, with another 50 assorted willows and hardwoods slated to go in tomorrow.
Real interested in this American Chestnut that slated for public release sometime in 2022.
Hope we can get some fun discussion cultivated

Welcome home. Always good to see pics of beautiful central Va. When my son was in law school i thought the whole area had transformed to horse farms!

You are not far off. There is still a decent cattle industry, but a lot of people from the D.C. area and the northeast are buying trophy farms. The issue is they don't want animals on their property but want the tax benefit from having it in "ag". So there is lots of hay ground but limited grazing acreage. I got a call last week offering me 200 acres to hay in return for bushhogging the balance.

Hey Guys, I'm Marksman 72 from Michigan. I was on the other QDMA Forum for many years before it went down. My brother and I have a smaller parcel that we've been doing QDM on and trying to restore the habitat. It's been going very good in some aspects and slower than we want in other ways. I really enjoy talking with you all about the same thing we all love...Deer Hunting and Habitat Improvement. I've gained so much information about it that I can't express my appreciation for your ideas and enthusiasm. Keep up the hard work guys, it will pay off in the end.

I'll start with just a little bit about myself. My name is Stephanie, I'm Wisconsin born and raised, there really is no place like it. I'm 26 years old and have 5 wonderful children (2 are mine, 3 are my husband's). I work as an architectural drafter and designs buildings all over the US and Canada.
I am a self taught hunter. No one in my family ever hunter except for my brother who I lost 6 years ago. He always asked me to go huntimg with him but I never found time, so after he passed away I decided to try it in his memory and loved it.
I have been able to go deer hunting 3 times during gun season, this past year I got my first doe!! Which then I got to teach myself how to gut a deer.
I am going to try bow hunting this year and hopefully turkey hunting next spring. I have a lot to learn still but have enjoyed every minute of it.

My 13 year old has no interest in hunting however my 9 year old and 6 year old both are showing interest. My 9 year got a bow for Christmas so she can start practicing. I hope to share the experience with them.
