Introduce yourself

Great thread! I've considered you guys good friends after a decade on the old forum but it was nice to learn more about you here! I was Stickbowcrafter on that old forum.

I typed a bunch of very long paragraphs then deleted them because I got too long winded LOL.

I'm Brian but Dad has called me Weasel forever because I was always weaseling my way into everything since I could crawl. I had fantastic, hard-working parents who loved God, our family and our country. My older brother and I grew up in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains east of Pittsburgh, PA. Always camping, fishing and eventually hunting with Dad. Bowhunting was and still is my passion. I lost Dad to cancer in 2014 and I still miss him dearly every day. Thankful my mom is still in good health and talk to her almost every day and get together regularly. I'm 42 years old. I'm married to the most wonderful woman in the world. Karen and I have been married for almost 19 years. We have two intelligent and beautiful daughters, soon to be 15 & 12. They enjoy the outdoors and hunting with dad.

Being a follower of Christ, I have the most amazing relationship with my Creator. I am a US Air Force veteran. I have worked for the local government where I live in SW Pennsylvania for 20 years. I will be eligible to retire in a little over 12 years. I also have owned my own business since 2005. I love to read books, travel, ride motorcycles and watch Pittsburgh Penguins hockey (I played hockey growing up and through high school) when I'm not spending time with my incredible family.

I am the first of my living extended family to purchase and own a piece of property outside of a small lot in a city or suburb close to civilization. I bought my first piece of land, 25 acres, at age 32. I improved that and enjoyed it for 4 years and sold it to buy my current 40 acre farm. I don't have to explain how special it is because you all know the feeling but I agree with Triple C, it is life changing. I could upgrade again to more acreage but I want to help my children with their education and anything else I can when they start their own lives. I am so proud of and content with that 40 acres.

My name is Eric and I have shot a 308 since I was 15 years old, so that is where my handle comes from. I am 38 years old with a wife, two kids, and a jack russell terrier. I live in a suburb of KC, MO but grew up on a farm in northeast Missouri. My family still farms corn, beans, wheat, and cattle. I have a BS in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Criminal Justice. I majored in Wildlife management and conservation for most of my college career, then noticed one day I knew a lot of guys with masters degrees running weed eaters waiting on a dream job. I added a teaching certification to insure employment after graduation. After a short sentence (3 years) trying to educate the youth of America in 7-12 grade science, I entered the QA/QC field in food ingredient manufacturing. I have worked in various areas of corn processing for the last 12 years.

My land is three hours away so I don't get up there near enough. I hunt with whatever is open - rifle, shotgun, muzzleloader, pistol, or bow. Most deer, turkey, and small game. I try to take the occasional out of state trip, but am falling behind on that lately too. My son shot his first deer last fall so hopefully I have planted the seed and will have a new hunting buddy. I enjoy working the habitat about as much as I like hunting so a lot of my posts will involve chainsaws, fire, food plots, and tractors. I was on the QDMA forum for a long time and am glad to see some familiar names here.

My name is Al or Albert ( I go by either) I was buck hunter on the last forum and I am the same on this forum.

We own over 60 acres (hoping to add, if given a good opportunity in SE Ohio). I was born to hunt, my grandpa killed a moose the day I was born. Grandma called him and said "you got a grandson" , he said " GREAT! I got a moose!" We always laugh and like to share that story, I lost my grandma this past Sept. She was an amazing lady.

I started small game hunting at a young age, started shooting bunnies when I was 7 or 8 with grandpa. As I grew older, deer grew on me. My uncle was a big time bowhunter and still is, and he turned me onto it at a young age. I think he killed his first deer with a bow, Western PA, circa 1956!

Anyhow, I am 26 years old, engaged to a beautiful woman, and plan to own a heck of a lot more land as I grow in my career. I am currently a national sales manager for a company based out of Ohio.

I have enjoyed reading and conversing with many of you all for several years!
 
Hello all,

I did the whole lurking and reading on the old forum. I had only been a member of it for six months before it closed. I followed those that came over here shortly after this one opened. Sampson was the name I used over there and just kept it.

Not much to tell really, I live in Oklahoma with my family. I have been fortunate enough to purchase 60 acres with my father in the central part of the state along with purchasing another 120 acres out in western Oklahoma. I have been deer hunting for about 30 years now, which has led me to buying my own land. I have learned a great deal from several of you here. I like the attitudes and drama free environment.

Hi all, my name is Jason Leclair, I'm from Edmonton Alberta. I'm an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. Im 35 years old, arried with a 9 yr old daughter who is also becoming more and more interested in hunting. I work from home making handmade knives. If allowed, I will share pictures of my work.

New member here but I did post a few times on the qdma forum and a long time lurker. I like the way this forum is set up!
I love in east central ks. I'm a row crop farmer and I work a full time job. I have a wife and 3 kids. We purchased 80 acres of the family farm in November of last year. Glad to be a part of this forum!

I grew up hunting the big woods up there with my dad and uncle and my passion for deer hunting has only grown. I have always had a passion for growing things as well. I studied horticulture in college and now work on a golf course. I have two kids that love digging in the dirt and planting things out at my father in laws property. I had read some of the great info on both the new and old site and am happy to have joined this one. I look forward to learning more and contributing.

Welcome to the posting side Brett. We welcome the sharing of your ideas and experience. Many of us more experienced older guys have been known to learn from your generations new perspectives. We look forward to more of your posts. And the granite state rocks!
 
My Name is Chad thus my handle. I live in south eastern PA on a small 30 acre farm that we purchased this past summer. I'm 38 years old married and have a 2.5 year old daughter + three dogs. I currently own my own business as a structural ironworker and welder. I've been dreaming about owning my own land since I started bow hunting at 18 and that dream has finally come true. I'd love to turn this overgrown out of date farm into a wonderful habitat for all gods creatures. I've only ever hunted small patches of woods in the suburbs of Philadelphia, so it's safe to say I've never even seen a 4 year old buck but only on tv. I look forward to gaining knowledge and friendships from this page as I've only scratched the surface I'm sure. The biggest buck I've ever taken was taken here on my farm on opening day gun season and I plan on growing and harvesting more in the future. I love bow hunting but ever since I can remember I've struggled with essential tremors so my shots are within 30yds. Some day I feel I won't be able to bow hunt anymore so I'm pressed to get my farm going to enjoy the now and future for my daughter. Thanks for the add!!!
 
Glad to have found this site. My name is Curt and I was Brutusbeefcake on the QDMA forums. I just found this site a month ago which is also when I found out that the QDMA had shut down their forums.
I have been pretty much disengaged with forums over the past 3-4 years after getting burned out with all the uproar over CWD. I've learned a lot from you guys over the years but as we all know, living the dream with family and friends in the outdoors trumps dreaming about it on a forum any day and that's what I've been doing and will continue to do.
My name Brutus is adopted from a buck we named Brutus on our farm in 2003 that gave both me and my dad the slip at close range on separate occasions. In the spring of 2004 while turkey hunting with my dad, I found the shed of Brutus, 3 weeks later we found out dad had cancer and 3 months after that my dad died at a very young 58 years old.
That shed has special memories.
Our family owns 100 acres and a cabin in Coshocton Co and in 2005 we started a QDM coop in our area that has proved to be one of the most exciting things I've ever been involved with when it comes to hunting. Relationships with family and neighbors to last forever.
I've grown up in the retail world working at our family owned Bulk Food store in Amish Country. The Ashery Country Store, celebrating 38 yrs here in 2017. ( regardless what you've heard, i know some Amish guys who are phenominal deer hunters amd land managers.) :) I'm not Amish but understand their ways very well.
Thanks to all here who have taught me so much and have given such an incredible wealth of information. You have my commitment to do my part in making this a healthy community of education without the critical spirit.
I am also an unashamed follower of Jesus. I'm in awe of the ways I have experienced Him in my life through joys, sorrows, gain, loss, pain & healing through many tears in a tree stand during the time of losing Dad. God is Good!

I'm glad you found this site Brutus. Your statement above really captures what this forum is all about. Sorry to hear your Dad went at such an early age. It sounds like you had a very special Dad.I look forward to hearing about your co-op and habitat experiences. And I like your writing style, it's crisp, to the point and says a lot in few words.

31/YOM from Jefferson county Mo which is Just south of STL. Married to my wonderful wife for 8 yrs now. We have been blessed with 4 children (3 boys, 1 girl) that keep us busy to say the least! I am a FT Paramedic but also have a landscaping business that funds my farm/habitat projects. Own 287 acres that was purchased with my in-laws as partners about 4 yrs ago. I am very passionate about land ownership, habitat improvements and enjoying the outdoors with family! I have come to the point of enjoying the habitat work more than the hunt itself! I pray that I see the day that my kids are slaying deer under our apples, pears an chestnuts!

Welcome to the forum. I too live in Jeffco But my property is in Gasconade county.
