Imox vs Clethodim for clover?

I have poor impulse control! Now that it's out of the bag....

That's too easy TAP!
Apples and oranges they are! But both are fruits and, while there may be subtle differences in their dietary impacts, the hopeful outcome is the same! AMS and surfactants are spray adjuvants. The reason for using AMS and surfactants would be - to accomplish a better weed control / kill. There's a whole complex set of factors that influence herbicide effectiveness and we presume adding all this stuff is worthwhile and effective. Well maybe, but we've gotten lazy and just assume we should add the stuff without knowing why. I've never used AMS in my life and I seem to be doing OK. Your experience may be different.

I would quibble with the statement, "They don't serve the same purpose." In the end, in fact, they do if only thru different modes.
However, I would agree AMS is not a substitute for a surfactant but adding AMS might be enough to overcome the lack of one.

AMS is very important if you have hard water. Maybe the reason you haven't had an issue is because the ph of the water in your area is fairly neutral.

I would highly recommend AMS and surfactant if you have hard water or if your are not sure of you have hard water. If you are getting a good kill already I wouldn't change your practice.

That's exactly what I got on thistles. Just a slight burn back.
I sprayed a 2nd spray of Imox 30 days later and will wait for the outcome.
Not seeing much results after 21 days and only a yellowing of leaves.

What do I spray with next to kill thistles? Waisted $150 on Imox and fertilizer additive.

Looking at Basagran now. Good choice to spray with oil for thistles?

If you have a bad thistle problem then you may want to think about doing a rotation out of legumes and broadleafs for a bit. You can spray either Milestone or Clopyralid, which will smoke the thistle. Both have 12 to 18 month rotation periods before you can put clovers back in. However clopyralid is safe on the turnip family but milestone is not.

Basagran is more of an additive to spraying mixes, and use to be really popular with raptor. If I was strictly after thistle I would use the above herbicides and rotate. If i was using raptor already i would add basagran to see if that took care of my thistle problem.
