Bull Pen, Mandy Hollow and Cari's Corner

Today I was using my box blade rippers to "plow" the roadside plot I plant along my driveway. We are extremely dry but the rippers at least turn the soil a bit for planting when some moisture is predicted. Well, I am plowing along and notice movement to my right. I stop the tractor and watch as FIVE bucks cross the driveway about 30 yards from me. I quickly try to get a picture but could not get any decent pics among the woods. Was as if they were showing up to help spread seed. Look carefully and you can see some outlines

I knew there were several bucks hanging around but not sure I have gotten clear pictures of all five.

Is this my good side?

I was discing a field one fall and had a young buck come out and play with me. He was running circles around the tractor. He was having a blast. However, I guarantee that if I stopped the tractor and got off he would have been gone in a hurry.

Get that cow to the processor and be done with her. That is a nice buck for Middle TN, Alabama, most places. Knock the dust off that bow and practice some.

We want to see a hero shot with you behind that rack. Five buck harassing a guy means you better start defending yourself.

Always love your updates - except for the tractor episode. Stay safe. ;)

Hey Lak

We had a man from North Carolina get in on our Kentucky Hunting lease. He is a tomato farmer - in the field and greenhouses too.

So we were visiting and getting to know one another and I ask him how many tomato plants he sets a year - when he told me a million I nearly fell out of my chair. We talked greenhouses and heating them. His average row of tomatoes is 500 feet long.

I explained your grew on a pier with an electric fence. He was amused. He grows tomatoes until they wind down - kills the plants and has cucumbers that grow up the stake. Cucumbers are in short supply this year per him and he thinks that will add to his profits.

man I tell you, it sure was hot down that way when I was there! Gosh dang! 102!

I hope you get some rain, great looking bucks!

With all those cam pics, I'd be surprised if those bucks werent standing along the drive somewhere. Ha. Man do i ever dislike forecasts like that.
September is supposed to be the month to plant grass seed. But dang if it ever rains much this time of year. Hopefully deer food can germinate.

I guess the good thing is the seed will just lie there until some moisture arrives. When it germinates I hope we get timely rains. I drug the field with a drag harrow and the seed is covered fairly well.

It has been dry DRY in our area. Fields are brown, and this is what my little pond looks like now
