QDMA Forum is a memory

I was in the midst of saving some of my data. I determined the best way was to EDIT the post, then copy and paste. This saved picture links and all. I was saving as I could but knew, based on their statement, that I had til end of month to do that.
But that method is gone, gone....

yep--sad day. But we can't cry over spilled milk. Time to get this forum on fire!!!

Posted announcement on Tuesday afternoon and lock it down on Sunday afternoon. Bet they didn't factor in fast action by the passionate habitat community. Now it is our job to build this site - good content on good topics. Share and help ...

I may just be naïve but I honestly don’t think they anticipated the extent of the fallout that was about to happen….nor the extent to which it’s going to continue to fallout. That forum was more far reaching than many are giving it credit for. The fact that it was only a small fraction of the total QDMA membership is deceiving some folks to think this will not matter. I'm sure they'll go on but there's definitely about to be some blow back for some time to come. There were a lot more eyes watching that forum than just what you saw posting and participating….people you never thought anything about. The sour taste they just left in everyone’s mouth will spread to more than just forum members as well. I think they greatly underestimated who the folks are they just did that to.

What’s so stupid about what just happened is that no matter what the reason was for the decision…..why on Earth would you not approach the shutdown from the standpoint of trying to minimize the fallout that was about to occur. I’m not talking about minimizing it by deleting everyone’s opinion either but minimizing it by taking an approach that showed they had at least an ounce of compassion or caring…..EVEN if they didn’t give two $#%@s.... like it appears they didn't.....wouldn’t the smarter move had been to at least pretend to care for the sake of making everyone walk away a little quieter? The way it was handled was terrible from all perspectives.

It's but a fork in the road. Let's grab the bull by the horns and teach the world what healthy deer management really involves, how many avenues it can follow, and how fun it can be. No looking back, or you just might turn into a statue of salt. I'm pumped.

Hey guys

I wanted to let you know I have made a new “qdma forum”, its under abit different name but the bones are very similar.

I loved the qdma forums, and would often find lots of good tips and tricks on it. As well as help when I needed it. Since it has been taken down I no longer know where to find answers to my questions. So I figured I’d go ahead and use my computer knowledge to make a new forum dedicated to wildlife management.

The forum layout is nearly identical to the old qdma forums and I hope you guys like it. Please let me know if there is anything missing you would like added. Unfortunately I can’t get at the old sticky comments from the old forums. If you have great information like an old sticky please let me know and we can make some new sticky threads.

The website is called http://QualityWildlifeManagement.com

Let me know what you think and please spread this to anyone from the old QDMA forums and your family and friends.

I know I am at home on this forum...I have gained many friends over the past couple of years and this is my communication medium with them...pull up a chair and join us because we really enjoy the new blood mingled with the old :)

Nice ideal but a little late to the game if legit. I'm very happy to have landed here. Hats off to those who made it happen. Poked my head in a few other places before settling in. Don't miss the other place at all. A few names but that's it. Impressed with the common purpose here and lack of bickering. Seems like everyone treats everyone else with respect. That was a huge turn off with one of the places I visited. Thanks to everyone here!

Its sad how it was handled and what was lost but we can move on and build this forum the right way with better information and much better leadership!!

I agree Brian. I was turned off on the old site the first day I was on it and attacked by 2 or 3 individuals. I did not contribute at all because of it. So far after switching over to this site I have been able to contribute by giving my two cents which is worth just that and by asking questions about things I do not know anything about with great responses from the guys/gals on here. Been a great site so far and QDMA is not missed a bit by me.

Interesting.... I searched a bunch of topics related to food plots and habitat. The top hit is now outreach outdoors. Considering 75% of that old websites visits were driven by search, I think they may be in trouble. Anyone have any updated web traffic #s for them? I'd bet they're total visits are cut in half with no search results.

So happy with the way this forum has grown and the contribution from all you guys/gals.

keep up the great work and please spread the word to all your huntin' buddies.

Yea unfortunately I've been very busy the last couple months and didn't realize this happened until recently. Figured it was a bit late but wanted to try and it was such a great resource and didn't want that knowedge fragmenting to numerous other sites.

I'm still going to host it and hopefully it becomes a resource people can use.
