Geo in Co

Loving the updates, especially the Jiu-jitsu play by plays. I'm impressed, especially at our age.
As always you are in some beautiful country. Don't rule out those younger women. I am very happily married to a "much" younger woman.

Take care
Todd

If I ever come to visit you it will be in the summer and not the winter.....

Keep training hard but don't break anything........

Summer is a delightful time of year to be here too.

great updates! I love the wood pile, just something comforting about knowing you got plenty of firewood!

Thanks buck, I think that it was Fish who said nothing like wood heat. Well this is my first experience with wood heat and I love it. Warmth like I have never had and I enjoy handling the wood more than paying for propane.

Be careful with that G...we don't heal up like we used to. I am noticing I start feeling stuff pretty good after 5 or 6 hours of hinge cutting the day after I do it...

Have you been skiing anymore?

I'm still waiting for the next good snow.

Thanks Todd.

I spent the first month to a month and a half at BJJ trying to figure out if my body can handle the rigors of the sport, sore knees, sore groin, sore back. Then there were all of the sores gotten while offering up body parts during drilling, rib pulls, nerve damage in my right arm, sore shoulders and arms from arm bars, sore neck. All of which I have recovered from and moved on. I convalesced my hyper extended knee this past week while continuing to train 4 days. I also dealt and continue to deal with an angry piriformis muscle on my right side. I already went through this on my left side. Anyone that has dealt with this , knows that it is a real pain in the ass and can cause sciatic nerve issues from spine to toe. This weekend I'm back to some resistance training also. The gorilla MMA fighter said he was but didn't return to train this past week. I rolled with our strongest blue belt on Thursday but we made it more of a training session for the both of us as opposed to a struggle to the death. He has about 30 pounds on me so I rolled conserving my strength and practicing some technique. We rolled about 15 minutes after training and I never even approached gas out. He got to practice his submissions and I got to show off some of my antics which Coach and the other guys seemed to enjoy. I was down to 206lbs on the scale this morning with an eye on fighting light heavy weight (< 205lb) in upcoming tournaments. So another good week past and my knee is almost back to 100% going into this week. The angry piriformis I will probably be dealing with for the next month.

Good job on the weight... I let myself go a bit over the winter but getting back down now. I am 6' 2" and the wife says look my best at around 210... I am 4 lbs away right now.

When I went straight ketosis a few years back I burned down to 205lbs, around 7% body fat, pretty fast. However without any carbs I found out pretty fast about being dehydrated and depleted of vitamins, electrolytes, and minerals. I was gaunt, weakened, and non vascular. I also believe that I slowed down my metabolism and thyroid function without carbs. I was also jacked up on cortisol, catabolic. I got back down to 205 this morning while back loading carb stores (150 or so grams). I did two days of resistance training this weekend and I'm still strong but not jacked on cortisol. The past three days I have consumed 40-50 grams of carbs and 40-50 grams of protein each day. I make up much of my calorie deficit by eating saturated animal fat (bacon, cheese, eggs, and butter) and saturated plant fat, 600-700 calories a day from coconut oil. To put it into perspective my daily carb and protein intake is equivalent to a Whopper with cheese. Funny thing is I eat because I need to not because I'm hungry.

I am different in the carb aspect. I get really lethargic on carbs and really have to push myself to do anything. When I am on low carb I am very animated and tend to do more than I should...

An example of this is anytime you see me doing a bunch of work on my property thread you can be guaranteed I am on low carb...weird I know because carbs are supposed to be energy but I pull my energy from something else.

My Dr loves it when I am on low carb because my labs and vitals are all perfect and I am completely off meds. If I go back on carbs for 3 months they start wanting to put me back on cholesterol and BP medication...

Americans average 1/3 lb of sugar consumed daily.

Since you are not jacked up on insulin constantly you can burn fat.

On my last date to Durango this woman was literally falling asleep while chewing on bread at a restaurant. She fell asleep and drove off the road on her way home. You can't make this stuff up. She called it carb narcolepsy.

I'm due for a trip to the grocery store, this was my meal after class last evening, 203lbs on this scale this am.

Teaser alert, the upcoming headline might read- Famous tv celebrity deer hunter caught poaching and pleads guilty.

Today was court day, Lee Lakosky pled guilty to being a dirty poacher. He pulled a Teddy Berger, shot a buck, then went to town to buy a license, and reported the harvest 5 minutes later. If not for the Conservation Officer from a neighboring county it would have been hushed. As it is it is being hushed and it would seem that preferential treatment is being given from what I gather he gets to keep his gun and the buck. He got the minimum ticket available and paid the fine.

I miss my deer friends but for the most part I am happy to be out of that poacher haven. Would you believe that there is a new bill in the Iowa State legislature, sf24, that would make it illegal for a Conservation Officer to investigate crimes on private property without a search warrant.

Wow that's a bummer. I read lees book and enjoyed it. Why the hell wouldn't he just buy a tag prior to hunting?

Idk Iowa laws but just seems dumb.

First, that is no meal Geo, I'd be chewing a table leg within the hour.
Shame on the Lee, no one is above the law or should be. But don't be fooled, I've talked to many a person in that country that got their deer and elk in not legal ways. I've seen that more in AZ south of you but both states have their "its my freedom " crowd.
I did send a sympathy card to Tiffany and told her I was understanding and if she needed a shoulder to cry on, call.

Trying to figure out why he didn't already have his license? For someone in the industry that just doesn't even sound logical!

Here in Oklahoma I have a lifetime hunting and fishing license I bought many years ago for $425. My license is good for everything I hunt and it comes with all the deer tags for every season. I am good to go anytime I want to go hunt deer with a legal weapon in a legal deer season. Does Iowa not have something like this?

Lee was party hunting shotgun season and the group only had doe tags. He probably spent his land owner tag during bow season and he was saving his any sex gun tag for late muzzleloader. I always used my lot during shotgun season.

I guess they weren't filming then? For someone who makes a living filming hunting shows I would think he wouldn't want to shoot a buck off camera...

Doug that may very well be true but I don't see these other states encouraging and coddling poachers the way that Iowa does.

So what license/tag was he able to buy?

This happened in Iowa Geo?

Sorry if I missed that part.

Keosauqua.

So what license/tag was he able to buy?

His any sex gun tag that he was saving for late muzzleloader. In Iowa you get an any sex bow and an any sex gun tag. The any sex gun tag allows you to hunt one gun season of your choice, early muzzleloader, 1st shotgun, 2nd shotgun, or late muzzleloader. A land owner gets a land owner tag that can be used in any one of all seasons. The lot allows one to hunt both shotgun seasons if you choose to use it for shotgun.
