Young Crabapple Losing Fruit

Our droptine crabapple was loaded a few weeks ago. It’s a young tree planted just 2 springs ago. I was a little worried about it being so young with so much fruit. Well, it aborted all but one of the crabapples in the last two weeks, and the one that was still holding fell off with a wind gust while I was watching this morning. Is this normal for a young tree?

Yes, very normal. Nothing to worry about. Also, it's common for the first two or three crops to not be pristine. It takes an apple tree a few years to get leveled out.

+1 what Native said. Here in VA we had a real late freeze (I forget when) that got down to 17 degrees overnight & it did a number on my apple trees along w/ my peaches & plums.
