Working at the Farm - Took a few I-Phone Pics

What alfalfa did you do. My clover alfalfa plot lasted 8 years. Thinking of doing again. I did it with tiller back then. Not sure I want drag it out again. Last time that I tilled. Deer love that stuff year round.

Hey dogghr, we have a local feed mill that sells seed, and I just went with the run of the mill stuff they had. It seems like I have more clover showing than alfalfa, but that could be because it is being grazed harder. You are good at getting plots to last a long time. I could do better if I was willing to spray grass more often. It seems like grasses are what usually takes mine over, but I have seen some plots do pretty well for several years. Good to hear from you friend.

That plot was wheat, clover and alfalfa. In another plot nearby, I had the same thing along with some chicory,

I often thought my alfalfa was gone in later years but I’d throw up an old school exclusion cage and always found 2 ‘ tall alfalfa within it.
Did you just broadcast the alfalfa T&M??
Bucks look ok but I hope they get some bigger for you maybe and make them worth looking at!!!!

Yes, I did T&M. I need to do a cage. Never can remember when I’m over there.

Nice bucks Native ! My target for this year here at home is this goofy antlered buck. He was like this last year too, and I passed on him. He may leave about the time he sheds his velvet, lots of them do. I usually kill a buck I haven’t seen before at home, but this one hung around last year so I have hopes. Going to try my best to get one with a handgun this year since I haven’t seriously hunted with a handgun in several years. IMG_0674.jpegIMG_0684.jpeg

Good luck with the handgun!

Good stuff as always Steve. This is one of the first threads I look for when I visit the forum which isn’t often enough these days. Always anxious to see what you and George have going on along with a number of other guys that continue to update their land threads.

Keep em coming!

Thank you TC and it’s always great to hear from you. George is doing a great job holding down the north end of the state and I’m trying hard as I can to get his work ethic for the south end, but he is a hard cat to follow.

Ain’t nobody gonna come close to George’s work ethic. I always have to take a nap after reading his latest posts! George…keep swinging for the fences brother!
