Well, I’ve got it !

I started feeling a little off Saturday, felt like warmed over death Sunday, and felt like I’d have to get better in order to die Sunday night. Felt a little better Monday morning when taking Sarge to the eye doc, and figured I’d better get tested. Monday at 1:00 pm tested positive for the Kung flu ! If Sunday was the worst I’ll be OK, right now just feeling like I have a cold. I’m afraid my wife will get it too, but at this point she has shown zero signs of it. She’s from pretty hardy stock, being raised on a farm in ND, so maybe she will escape unscathed. I sure hope so.....

Thx for letting us know and keep us posted on your progress. We've had too many folks our age that have gone through it. One didn't make it and others ended up in ICU. Sounds like you're on the mend!

Glad to hear you are feeling better. My wife got it and the worst day, she felt pretty bad. She got over that quickly (within a day or two) and never felt bad after that. She lost her sense of taste and smell for about 10 days beginning around day 7. I had to quarantine with her for 14 days. We didn't use masks, but we did sleep in separate bedrooms. I had to get tested twice during that time and never tested positive or had any symptoms. I had to take a third test to go to Hawaii over Thanksgiving and it too was negative. Who knows what's going on.

Glad you're over what is the worst. We're all sitting around waiting for it to strike us. The kids had their Christmas program at church Sunday evening. People have been dropping like flies with it since. This is the closest I've been exposed even though I travel to different states for work and see 50-70 people a day. God speed to you and your wife. Wishing the best

I don't know if there is any truth to it. But single barrel bourbon seems to keep it away. I always heard the old timers talk about the medicinal purposes of alcohol. My grandmother always gave us a shot of moonshine and a tablespoon of castor oil. I don't know if it helped but we never complained about being sick. I know Ole Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies believed in the elixir

Sorry to hear about your illness. Do your eyes hurt? Or the bottoms of your feet? Around our parts people gargle mouthwash right away when they start with a sore throat and it seems to lessen the severity of it. It went through our neighborhood the last week in May because the Amish started their churches again and shared a common communion cup. Which was a good thing because then we were mostly done with it ever since, although it keeps showing up in pockets that didn't get it then. Keep us posted on your recovery.

Thanks for the well wishes guys ! I know this sounds crazy, but I’m almost glad I got it instead of waiting on it. I mean I think we’re all gonna have it at some point. Maybe the vaccines will help, but I never put much faith in the flu vaccines. Seems like every time I took the vaccine I got the fluo_O and if I didn’t take it, which was more often, I didn’t get it. I’m afraid there’ll be a different strain next year unless this one was on purpose. I kinda think it was. If that’s the case, then the occupants at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue will probably ensure no more “pandemics”.

I don’t know Pine, I was studying to be an alcoholic in ‘81 and ‘82 and that’s the only time I ever had pneumonia. I was drinking vodka though, that probably had something to do with it.................:D

Get well soon Drycreek, sounds like your getting better already. I'm with you on catching it. I know, careful what one wishes for but I have the same notion as yourself, I wish I just get it and be done with it. My wife got the shot because of her job, She's 58 also but that's along ways from the where it is doing it major damage.

I'm glad she got it as I was always worried about bringing it home from work and giving it to her and/or her taking it to work, now I am not that concerned with it. I don't plan on taking the shot until everybody older than me and others with compromised health have the shot. If I don't get the shot I won't have a problem with that.

Tested positive last week. If not for lack of smell and taste I wouldn't know. Step daughters family had it and some hospitalized. Weird how some seem immune while others are hit hard.
I had explained symptoms away due to lack of sleep because of acid reflux and soreness due to more physical labor than I'm used to.
Sucks for my kids to have to self isolate during Christmas but if this is as bad as it gets I feel lucky.

Yeah, that’s probably the worst part. We didn’t do our normal Thanksgiving because one of my daughters couldn’t get away, she lives on the other side of the state. She was gonna make it home Xmas and now this. Oh well......

I think as a first responder we will get vaccine in next couple months.Surprising I haven't got it yet but we wear PPE and jump in the shower as soon as we get back from a call.It is kind of nerve racking hoping you don't get it or pass to your family. At my real job 3 of my employees have had it but recovered after 14 days and still have some side effects. My daughter is a nurse also and has been tested several times.Stay safe it's not any fun.I think blood types may have something to do with how severe.

Dang man, sorry to hear that. Hope you fully recover quickly and have a most joyous Christmas with you family and all your loved ones.

Thanks guys, I continue to feel pretty good, temp was back to normal this morning, but that doesn’t mean it will stay that way as it has been up and down. Never got over 100.5 when it was checked, but it could have been up last night as I sweated the bed down again. That’s always been a good sign for me though, because I always felt like I was getting better. My wife continues to show no symptoms, I’m hoping that stays that way, but I can’t believe that she doesn’t. I think there’s still a lot we don’t know about this virus.

I got an email from my Mom's nursing home that the residents will get the Moderna vaccine, Wednesday, January 6th. I'm surprised because it seems far from set that they have enough for the healthcare providers. I'm her power of attorney and am going to turn it down. She had COVID about 6 weeks ago. Also, her dementia is so bad, that it just doesn't make sense when there are a lot of younger people who would benefit from it.

its amazing that if your outside, you wouldn’t even notice a 2 degree change in temperature but if your body temp goes up 2 degrees it’s like night and day. They say after 72 hours of no fever you shouldn’t be contagious so maybe your wife will luck out. Sounds like you’re going to be ok. Good luck.
