Hard to tell by the pictures, but I had one that looked very similar and a tree guy told me it's a Chinese strain.

Looks like a sawtooth oak to me.

edit: nevermind. Pic 2 looks like chestnut burrs not sawtooth acorns. I’ll go with a chestnut.

My dad has owned the property only 5 years now. Don't know who would have planted it.

Is it growing from an old stump?

It's not that I can tell. Unless the old stump is all under ground now.

It is definitely a chestnut. Most assuredly Chinese. Regardless, GREAT tree for deer.
