For those who have used it on clover and chicory, I have been reading the label. I have never used it but am looking into it. I usually use Cleth and Butyrac 200 but want a single pass option. The label says only use it at 3-6 oz an acre and to not use it over 6 oz a year per acre and to use it when the clover is small. I would assume i can use it on established clover that is 8" or so right? I usually spray in the spring when weeds start emerging and then again in the summer when the grasses pop again. Would it be best to spray it in the spring and then just spray the grasses with clethodim. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I see it says spray before 3 inches of regrowth on the clover. Is that to protect the clover from injury or to allow better access to get on the weeds?

If you spray it properly with good application coverage when the weeds are emerging there won't be any grasses popping up in the summer.

It works best on 3" weeds like the label says. So, earlier application is better than later.

The reason to spray on 3" weeds is to effectively kill the weeds, not to protect the clover. Smaller clover is actually more susceptible to herbicides than bigger clover.

This is a good choice for a perennial clover plot that you plan to keep in clover for multiple years. It's not a good choice if you want to do a spring clover and then a fall crop, because it has a carryover that will damage about every fall plot that there is.

yes that is my plan. I have not done a good job in the past on spring maintenance but my goal is to do better this year. Thanks, for the help I really appreciate it. Does Daniels ship? I looked them up online from an earlier search i did that i saw you had mentioned them before so I had already looked them up.

They are amish, so you have to call them to order. They ship ups.

This was a midsummer purchase to stock up my supply before covid makes it impossible to buy anything anymore, the imazethapyr 2sl is the Thunder product. Looks like i set my coffee cup on the invoice.

I'm not sure why you would mix clethodim with imazethapyr?Imazethapyr is a very potent grass killing herbicide on it's own.

I've read that tank mixing Butyrac200 and clethodim together creates severe antagonism, however, I don't know this for a fact, but I'd suggest testing a small amount before proceeding. Keystone Pest Solutions has posted the following warning with clethodim: For broadleaf control use Butyrac 200 sprayed separately!See Butyrac 200 listing.

I paid $165 a gallon and shipping was $17.50 from Daniel’s to Arkansas. Great people to work with and I’m very pleased with them. I haven’t used it yet because I bought it a couple months ago.

You're locked and loaded,, ready for spring greenup! I find that early spring is the best time to use it, but the critical thing is, right then is one of the busiest times of year and it's easily forgotten.

Yes I’m ready but spring greenup is for crappie fishing and turkey hunting, so somewhere in between I will get it sprayed.

Yes i found out that my newest member who works for a large fertilizer company in Florida can get our chemicals at cost for us. I am lucky on that end and it made my day when I asked him and told him what i am looking for. I can get a gallon of the Imazethapyr 2sl for $90. Clethodim for $50 a gallon and roundup for $11 a gallon. I will be stocked up and ready for spring.
