The Massey

I walked by a persimmon seedling I planted a couple of yrs ago this afternoon. Gave it a bend and it broke. Dry as a bone. Probably should replace most of my persimmons with pears as they just don't seem to do well this far west. Of course my pear trees were snowed on last week while in bloom, probably won't get a fruit this yr from them.

Seems like there’s more selection of late blooming crabapples than pears. But pears are just about as tough as they get, that’s for sure.

No and it was in the middle of a row of 6 other trees.I tried to pull it over and it was solid so wasn't gophers.Trees leaning have been an issue but I don't know that it's gophers. As there aren't any signs and if there was I can trap them. I have had issues planting oaks on farmland before that appeared to have hard pan.Tree just wouldn't grow and a tree 50 ft away was growing twice the size.I put my smallest bit on auger and drilled a couple holes a ft away from tree and it caught up in a few years.
