Bummer! Blisters?

I've followed the team a little. The guys are outstanding with at least one boy that's doing phenomenal! We got 2nd to them last year by 2pts at Winfield. Doubt we're that close this year.

Spikes have been almost mandatory this season. We haven't ran on a single dry course yet.

Sim already ran a 15:20 at a meet and I'm guessing he'll beat that by the end of the year. That beat his own school record by 20 seconds!

As for Audrey, yeah, but blister is an understatement, it was pretty bad. It was on the inside of the "ball" of her right foot. She was in tears after the race, it was so painful she had to walk about a couple hundred yards and then she was really upset because that took her out of placing.

Blisters can be horrible. Then they dont heal as quick as you'd want them to.

15:20 is amazing! Not a lot of kids get below 16, very few below 15:40!

This pic came through about 2 minutes ago, WHILE I was posting on the trail cam thread interestingly. I intended to redo the back plot completely and conventionally this fall, but the rains didn't allow me to get back there with the tiller. Never mind though, those same rains have taken the throw and go (nothing to "mow" after early spray and mowing to prep for the tiller) seed and made it explode! Rain covers all kinds of plotting mistakes.

That sounds prophetic "Rain covers all kinds of plotting mistakes", I like it. And a lack of rain magnifies plotting mistakes! We finally got a half inch yesterday!

I keep buggin you about Cross Country. Are you guys going to be at KU tomorrow?
We won’t be, Dawna is working this weekend and I can’t get away. But the team will be. The boys should do ok, if Simeon runs well; last year that course ate his lunch. The girls will be missing their best runner, she is playing volleyball too and will be at a tourney in your neck of the woods — Burden.

I think it's the toughest courses in KS. We run State in Wamego, which is hilly too but not like RimRock. The last email I got from them said they'd bumped team entries up from 55 last year to 80 this year. 1,587 boys entered for tomorrow.

I'd forgotten Caney V. was going to be at our tournament. 10 teams if I remember right, including Argonia and South Haven. Kind of a small school powerhouse of a tournament.

Yeah, it will be weird not being in Burden tomorrow, first time in 4 years. We usually go early and meet a few couples for breakfast at that diner.

Sim won easily. Looked smooth. Couldn't tell if he was running just to win or if he was going all out, but he wasn't in the 15's. I didn't see your girl in the results. Did she run or still nursing her blisters back to health? My 2 girls both ran PR's, and most of my boys did too. It was crazy big. The Varsity Blue race had 503 boys in it. 92 schools and 70 full teams entered.

We got back in time to watch a little of the volleyball finals. Your girls are good!

After last year, I just think Simeon wanted to finish. He is in a much better place mentally this year. Audrey hit the wall and coach told her to stop. She had a rough week for a number of reasons, and that was only her second meet ever. All of the girls were pretty down with Ellen not being there. The volleyball girls have a lot of potential, just need more consistency. Sounds like your bunch had a good day!

I was happy with our kids. They ran fast on a tough course, and nobody pissed down their leg. Makes for a great day!

I’m hoping to get the last foodplot in tomorrow. We leave for Wisconsin on Friday. I’m really hoping for some cooler temps next week, there is a glimmer of that beginning to show up in some of the models. We really need a couple nights in the 40s to do the army worms in. I’d also LOVE to have to wear a jacket during the day while up in Wisconsin.
