Taking Kids Outdoors

Active Member
Spent some time today on behalf of a local group I'm involved with called Taking Kids Outdoors. A few friends and I developed this group a couple years ago

Took the mobile BB range that the local NWTF lets us use to a community event and taught local kids gun safety and shooting . Put almost 200 kids through the range !!

We also do a summer outdoor safety camp which includes orange card certification, boating safety, archery instruction, fishing instruction, Treestand and harness safety , poisonous plant and animal ID, edible plant ID , trapping instruction, etc.

For spring youth turkey we host anywhere from 30 to 50 kids for a fully inclusive all weekend turkey hunt .

It's a great group , Will try to update this post as we have events

That is a great program, and I can't think of a better person than you to be doing it. Your love for the outdoors is very apparent, and that's the kind of conviction it takes to get the kids interested and keep them on the right track.
Hats off to you and everyone else pulling those events together. And a subtle reminder that i need to do more to get youth involved. Thanks for doing this!
Way to go! I know how rewarding that can feel. I bet 30 or more kids caught their first fish in my home pond. I think getting kids involved in nature, hunting and fishing or foraging, is one of the most important things we can do.
Appreciate the complements fella's. We have a small but strong core group but get a ton of support from the local community, Mason's Lodge, church groups, county gov't, etc. It has been a great experience thus far and looking forward to a rewarding future.
