I'm not much concerned. The tabs are pretty tight. If I do have a problem I can wire the tabs together with a piece of copper wire.

I would think that your tabs would need to hold more than the weight of your largest coon. What I see happening is the coons will grab onto your wire cage to try and get it loose. If it drops away then they know what to do each time.
If it were me I'd take a bare wire and run it from your battery across the bottom of the cage or somewhere you expect them to put their paws. It'll shock the S@#$ out of them and they'll decide that the corn is not worth the shock.
I'd also put a toggle switch on it so I didn't shock myself when I refilled the feeder.

That's what I figured also Jeff. With eight screws securing the hinge side there's no way a coon hanging from that side could pull them loose. The locking tab side is the weakest of course. I did a pull test with a fish scale and unless the coon hanging from that side weighs more than 17 lbs. the tabs will hold. However. I can always add two more locking tabs that overlap the existing tabs. That would add significantly to the weight that side can support.

I'd still electrify it...just for the satisfaction of electrifying a raccoon!
