Spraying food plots

I’m new to this site and was wondering what was safe to spray on food plots? The few different plots I want to put in are whitetail institute power plant and want to know what’s safe to spray weeds from this product or so I have to spray them at all? The second is soybeans and do these need sprayed and what’s safe on them? Lastly, turnips and do these need sprayed and what product is safe to watch them grow? Thanks for the help!

Welcome.

Since you are new to this, my advice would be to first learn about spraying as a means of killing existing vegetation before planting a food plot. In most instances you can do this with glyphosate (Roundup). With this product you don't have to worry about any residual effect on the seed you later plant. If you do a good job with killing existing vegetation and your seed get off to a good start, you may not need to do any more spraying. Of course, there are exceptions to this, and there are things you can spray on existing plots if the need arises.

Turnips are generally so competitive that once they germinate nothing can outgrow them or choke them out. Perhaps someone has sprayed turnips, but I'm not aware of it. With them, just kill competing vegetation before planting, get some soil contact with the seed and you are generally good to go.

I would also just recommend reading a lot of the existing threads in the food plot section. They are a wealth of information.

Power plant is going to be about impossible to spray post-emergent. I believe it's a mix of lots of plants, both grasses and broad leafs, although I believe they have changed the mix. Native is right, get a good kill, and hope for quick germination. I have never planted that exact mix, but a friend has. It was an absolute jungle. I am planting a similar cover-crop mix this summer on some plots.

And also remember, The more you disturb the soil, the more weeds will germinate leading to the need to spray more.
Some weed seeds can remain viable in the soil for many decades. I read somewhere that ragweed seeds are viable for 80 years.
I suggest you read the Throw and Mow threads. Guys are growing some impressive plots with minimal equipment and no soil disturbance.
The less soil disturbance, the fewer weeds you'll need to spray. Notice I didn't say you won't have any weeds...but you'll have fewer weeds if you aren't tilling. Your soil will be healthier, too.

Spraying clover plots with cleth E, should you add AMS with Cleth E if you have a hard water or doesn’t it matter with this product?

I will not hijack your thread. I am a no spray guy and will start a related thread.
