The annual summer migration of snow geese moving north through Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area in southeastern PA is occurring about a week earlier than average this year.

Our resident goose season just went out here in VA. Didn’t have the birds this year that we have had in the past.

I'd say Middle Creek looks about like an average snow geese year.
Here's the Pennsylvania Game Commission update:
February 23, 2022
The variability in weather has potentially brought our peak in numbers of snow geese at Middle Creek. With 60 plus degree temperatures, and the lake completely unfrozen, roughly 150,000 birds utilized the lake on Monday afternoon (President's Day). They stayed for most of the day without feeding and in the morning on Tuesday, we only had about 30,000 birds.
Wednesday the numbers rose again;
  • Snow Geese: 70,000
  • Tundra Swans: 2,500
  • Canada Geese: 3,000
