Scion and rootstock size.....which method is best?

I did pretty well with grafts last year and am looking for opinions on methods on different sized stock and scions.

Same size.......whip and tongue seems best suited

MUCH larger rootstock than scion........bark graft it

But.....what to do when the root stock is just too big for a "straight" whip and tongue and too small to bark graft? Last year I did a whip and tongue on one that was mismatched in size (thumb sized stock and pencil scion)....ended up working and I don't see why not continue this.

But I want to heat some options and experiences.

You could try a cleft graft.

What about a 3 or 4 flap graft?

Yep, in that situation I use a cleft Graft but as long as you get one side matching up with a W&T you are good.
