Rabbit foodplot?

I have trails cut through some thick cover where I run my dogs. I use the trails so I don’t have to bust brush while training the dogs, and for shot opportunities. What’s my best bet for a rabbit foodplot? I was thinking trusty old clover but is there anything else people see rabbits munching on I could plant on those paths?
 
Clover would be hard to beat and I’ve seen them eat for minutes on end in my yard on that little yellow hop clover.
 
they sure seem to like any of my flowers around the house!!

I would think want something with some overhead cover. I have lot of rabbits by me, but seems like they never venture out of the woods into the open like that very often. Switchgrass w/ clover underneath?

I’m just looking for the best thing to plant on 4-5 foot wide trails i have cut.
 
Clover is great for bunnies. I assume you're running beagles? Are they AKC bloodlines? I've only got 5 rabbit dogs left, down from 14 about a decade ago. Have had some great hunts over the last 20 years, love hearing them sing on a trail!

yeah AKC but don’t ask me what they are out of. I don’t trial I just love listening to them run and eating the occasional rabbit. B7399BF2-2880-4CD3-BE0B-76937F22437D.jpeg

My oldest is 16, not in the picture. The one in front will be 10 next month, the one in the middle is 8, and in the rear 5. It will be time for a new puppy in the near future.
 
This is the one instance in which ryegrass is hard to beat. Mixed with a little white clover.

That’s true, I kicked a rabbit out of one of our buckwheat fields the other day, was he using it for cover or food? I’m not sure but he was in there.

I just wasn’t sure what the best seed is to plant on 5’ wide trails cut through heavy brush.

But the rye grass and clover should be perfect, that’s what the rabbits eat all the time in my yard.
 
If you want them to proliferate, they need some cover from predators. A place to hide, like a brush pile or the like would help your numbers. That said, I have seen rabbits in the middle of the woods, not far from food plots. Never would have thought they could carve out a living with all the coyotes, hawks, etc looking for them, but somehow a few manage to survive.

I have the thick cover, I’m looking for the best option to plant in trails I have cut through that cover.
 
Ryegrass and clover are great this year they also really liked the 5-way mix I put along my field edges.When it was young I could look down edge of field road and there would be little brown dots as far as the eye could see.They pounded the pea, beans and sunflowers. This year there has been an explosion of them and my wife and I would often see 6-8 on our evening ride arounds. What was bizarre is most of them were totally unafraid of us. Would drive the electric buggy within 5-10 feet of them and sit there watching them chow down and they could not have cared less about us.
