Pineapple Pears

Is anybody on here growing Pineapple Pears? I have several planted on my property. They were large trees when planted, and this will be their fourth spring in the ground. They are easily over 20' or taller with a 6" base. They have yet to produce a single pear. They are planted with John Ledbetter, Moonglow, and Kieffer trees which are all roughly the same size and were planted at the same time (all of which have had moderate crops of pears so far each year).

Any thoughts as to why they haven't produced? They should be getting pollinated with the other species around them. They are planted in a food plot which gets plenty of sun, moisture, late afternoon shade, and fertilizer.

If your are fertilizing the plot your getting fertilizer on the tree which leads to more vegetative growth instead of fruit spurs.

I planted some but it was this fall, so no idea how long til they should be fruiting. Mine are planted with moonglow, kieffer, and 2 others i cant remember at this time.

If that's the case, why would the J Ledbetter, Moonglow, and Kieffers still be producing fruit, as they are all planted together? We also are only fertilizing this particular plot in the fall. We have naturally high fertility soils off of the MS River.

Some pears just like apples naturally produce quicker then others I've got an Ayers pear that gets no fertilizer, been in the ground for 4-5 years and still hasn't produced.

Yeah, I guess so. I'm just surprised. These trees are massive. They were already mature when I got them before they were planted (probably 60gallon, I had to plant them with a backhoe), and they've been in the ground either 4 or 5 years. Seems like they would've made fruit by now. I got them from David Osborn at UGA (Wildlife Growers).

That does seem like a huge tree. This year when everything blooms take a look and see if you have other pears blooming at the same time or if the pineapple pear is even blooming. I'm not real familiar with that variety so unsure if it's self pollinating or not off hand, but if you know if it's making blooms or not you will narrow down your potential causes.
