Norway carribou dead from lightning strike

Has anybody ever heard about something like this before? Is this some cover up or did it really happen? Ideas?

The aluminum foil on his antlers so he could pick up xm radio is what did him in I am sure.

My cousin lost around 12 head of cattle a few years back that were under a tree in the middle of the pasture during a storm. If you google cattle and lighting strikes there are quite a few articles out there. So fairly common, but 300+ animals at once seems very unusual.
