I bought some of this seed this yr to try and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with this seed. The company states he could grow up to 14 feet.

After planting they recommend using simazine Not sure of the directions as to when to use it. do you wait until you get new grass & weeds coming up or immediately after planting

I’m a fan and used it many years until my spruce screens were established. Height depended on the area and soil but I was able to get 12 ft high screening in most places. Others with poorer soil maybe 5-6 ft. I used a tiller for a nice seed bed and went 15 ft wide. Put a lot of lime down before planting and tilled in. Broadcast and then packed it in either with cultipacker or ATV tires. I put on the Simazine right after planting. I did get some grass in it but once the screen got growing good it shaded out the grass. I tried other brands of Egyptian Wheat but the mix from Northwoods seemed to be the best. For me anyways. A good tip is DO NOT plant too heavy. If you plant heavy you will be dissapointed

Buckly TY for info. Can you describe how much seed you put down as to not plant it too heavy. I also will try & do a 15 foot wide plot and at least 100 yards along my wood line. I have a solo hand spreader

I used to picture mature corn. I picture what corn would look like at 15 ft wide. So corn is planted about 6-8 inches apart .so if you can get the seeds evenly spaced about 6-8 inches apart with your spreader . It’s not an exact science just get a nice even pattern. There’s no harm in going as light as you can with the spreader and if you feel you need more just make another pass. Reality though, one light pass will probably be good. You need to give it room to mature. If you don’t give it room it will be weak, spindly and short.. play around with a few sections some lighter or heavier. One season will make you seasoned. LOL. Also you mentioned wood line. I never had good success right along wood lines. You need to get it out into full sun. Whatever distance that may be.
