No they aren't bad.What you have is basically a storm window with a peg sticking parallel off the end and you screw a small piece of angle at each end to the wall.It has a hole that this peg goes in.Then for a latch it is a clip that rotates over the edge of window frame to hold window shut.I screwed up and put my windows across from each other so when I redid it I moved them so movement wasn't visable.I also made some black curtins out a dark out curtin from Walmart.I did put weather stripping but be sure to open windows to break seal when you first get in blind as they stick to window stripping
