What a wonderful way to put a smile on a young lady's face!

I'm back on stand watching wildlife. I live in the middle of the woods with no other houses in sight and I'm sitting at my living room window watching my bird feeders out back and my favorite binoculars at my elbow.
One interesting tidbit on this hobby, birds are most diurnal, and I'm used to watching white-tailed deer which are mostly crepuscular, so it seems odd to my birdwatching habits that in the last hour of daylight most birds have gone to bed already!
I keep a running list of all the different species, it's somewhat low yet this year, but hopefully I'll get it up above 60.
A great way to pass a January Sunday afternoon!

Area 9 Louisiana
Amite River swamp in French Settlement, LA
Currently 37 degrees, sunny with light northern winds.
Weatherby Vanguard II chambered in 30/06, loaded with Federal 150 gr soft points.

Been out here since 6am and haven’t seen but a few woodpeckers. It’s the last day of rifle season, primitive opens tomorrow through the 31st. My toes are frozen and I’m hungry so he better show soon. IMG_5039.jpeg

That's pretty chilly for Louisiana, it was snowing in Pensacola this morning. I guess you're probably back in the warm already...
