Thanks lakngulf. I just put out a "Honeycrisp cam" today in my backyard. There are tracks all over the place.

First decent snow of the year and the deer came right out and scarfed down a boatload of apples. I did notice they have really slacked off on this wild tree, instead opting for Liberty, Galarina and Honeycrisp.

I think they are being fed well!

Your deer eat well. You have some nice deer numbers and some nice up and comers.

The photos with the deer in the snow are great to see for a southern guy that don't see much snow.

However, the fly over photo of your orchard is the best photo I have seen in some time. I would frame that photo if it was my ground.

It never ceases to amaze me how tough deer are! The cam says -12, but it was -30 with the wind chill and they are out doing their thing. These apples are hard as rocks and they are hammering them.

Christmas update.........Galarina's are still holding strong inn my tall spindle!I left some of these small ones on these trees just to see what they would do.

...and they are holding well on this B118. Maybe going on it's 4th leaf. They are definitely an apple to grow if you want to feed deer late.

As usual, it looks like a barnyard in my backyard.

This cracked me up! Half of this apple is frozen in the ice and the deer chewed it right down to the ice.

Deer train going from that Honeycrisp in the background to another orchard closer to my house. The most deer I've seen is 8, all does and fawns.

Honeycrisp are still holding a few as well as Enterprise, Gala and Honeygold. Everything else has dropped.

Are the Galarina and HC staying firm or are they rotting on the tree? They still look pretty solid.

Not rotting, but we got down to 15 below or so a couple nights and then warmed up so they have softened up when it is not cold. When it's cold they are billiard balls. Very hard this morning, but they will be the consistency of applesauce still inside the skin later today. I think we are suppose to get in the upper 30's later. It was about 10 degrees when I was out taking pics this morning. Galarinas are way more firm than the HC's.
