Great pics! Your team mirrored the outcome of Caney. Yeah by the time 4a ran, it was REALLY bad with the mud. Outlook for the guys is pretty good. I think Sim has the potential to place top 5 in the state meet, but you just never know with rimrock. The track at neodesha was in the shape of a giant lightening bolt there was lot of grumbling about it among the runners/coaches, everyone ran slow, at tri-valley league and that was when it was dry. When it got wet at regionals it was REALLY slow.
I like it when runners and coaches grumble about conditions. I tell my kids to listen at the starting line and you'll find out who doesn't want to be there. Easier to beat people that just want it to be over.
We wanted fast times. Our Regional course was very fast during the season. Everyone I looked at ran a minute faster there than they did on other courses. The kids were excited to hit some PR's... but then we got there and saw they lengthened the course and then it turned to mud. We ran about the same times as usual, which I equate to probably faster than normal for us. Everyone else ran slow. I don't mind being ranked slow. I like to compete as an underdog.
Good luck the Caney kids! I'll be checking on them in the results.
