Imox vs Clethodim for clover?

Anybody have any experience with imox for clover? Perceived pros/cons.

No experience, but I've seen it discussed on Bowsite. It's my understanding that it saves the cleth/butyrac thing and kills grass and weeds in one application. If I didn't already have a full jug of each I would try it.

Imox is the same as raptor and beyond that is often applied to Clearfield seeds or legumes ( mostly alfalfa). The weeds defiantly have to be young as I have applied it to later growth weeds and didn't get much kill. It works well on your average grasses. Many people love raptor...and now that there is a generic ( imox) I would opt for it every time unless I know I have a hard to kill weed such as Canadian thistle.

Have used 24DB sand Clearcast in the past. Just bought some Imox and look forward to giving it a try, have heard good things!

That's the frustrating thing about Raptor...you have to apply to young weeds, but then there are some weeds that haven't emerged yet, and you're limited to one (or 2?) applications of Raptor per season. If you apply when the early spring weeds are still young (as per the Raptor label), you don't get the later weeds that haven't emerged yet and if you wait for the later weeds to emerge, then the early ones are too mature for the Raptor to be effective.

That why I often just try and rotate a Clopyralid tolerant plant in every once and a while. Sometimes you need stuff dead now and you can't make the daily schedule work with proper spraying times. Just have to be aware of the soil residuals.

I sprayed Imox today on my clover plots for a first time use. But it has rained the last 7 days that delayed my spraying and the weeds may have gotten too big for a decent kill. I'll wait 7 days and mow and look at a 2nd spraying of Imox.
Thoughts on a followup spraying to kill thistles?

Imox will only lightly suppress thistle. You will need to add Basagran if that's what you are targeting. In have not done it myself but have read about it multiple times.

Rain finally stopped and we got a dry weekend back at the cabin. Sprayed two different plots half and half with 24DB and Imox. Both the plots are just clover plots so the jury is out, will see which one works better. Planning on spraying the clover, chicory and alfalfa plots this weekend with the Imox.

After spraying the 24DB and the Imox half and half in fields, I have came to the conclusion that the Imox is the clear winner. The half’s that I sprayed Imox on look much better and cleaner than the 24DB sides. I’ll take pictures this weekend of the results!

It'd better be cleaner at the price it costs. The nice thing about 24DB and Clethodim, they are both very economically priced and don't have the carryover that Imox does, at the price you can afford to hit it again if needed and still be way cheaper.

Not the best picture but you can see the difference. The whole field had grasses and some broadleaf weeds that needed to go in the clover field. The Imox on the right side did great on the weeds, the left side and 24DB not so much. What excites me is the fast the Imox did so well on the grass as well, no more having to spray 24DB and then some gly.

Yes sir, used NitoSurf as the surfactant for the mix. We ran out of that though and then used AMS on the other plot we had left. I think the spray was spotty for two possibly reasons. The field was a little high for my liking to be spraying, but with the tractor being at our other property we had no choice. Second, we got a new crop care sprayer for the wheeler and boy does it work well. Sprays out to 25 feet so getting used to it has been a learning curve. I’m also known for missing a spot or two when I’m spraying, normally it’s just a strip right down the middle. I hit the places I missed and the other half with it this weekend so we shall see

Not seeing much results after 21 days and only a yellowing of leaves.

What do I spray with next to kill thistles? Waisted $150 on Imox and fertilizer additive.

Looking at Basagran now. Good choice to spray with oil for thistles?

I'm pretty sure there is a limit to how many times per season Raptor can be applied (same chemical as Imox, correct??)
That's the thing that I don't like about Raptor...limited sprays per season, soil residue, limits follow up crops and it has to be used on very young weeds. And a lot of the tougher weeds like thistle just laugh at it.
