I have a stand of this in one of my fields and I haven't planted anything in it yet this year. Last year I planted clover and oats. Any help on what It is?

Hard to tell for sure. Do you have any pictures with the seed head fully open? Could be ryegrass...

It wouldn't be oats right? It's right where I planted them last year but I just assumed there's no way they would grow this Spring. Just seems odd how tall and thick this is almost like it was planted.

No, its not oats. Probably some type of ryegrass but hard to say with one pic and no other information.

You know its something you don't want - so I would suggest killing it and starting over.

That's a variety of oats sold in certain wildlife mixes. My deer love it. Let them mature and turn brown then plant a throw and mow turnip, rape and radish mix in July.
