Here's a shout out to all of you Wisconsin guys about a famous diner joint in Milwaukee, WI, called Solly's Grille, famous for their butter burgers - Solly's butter burger. I was watching one of my favorite BBQ YouTube channels a couple of weeks ago and this guy starts raving about the butter burger made famous in WI. Watched him make it and decided it was on the menu for a friday night farm meal. Left the jungle of ATL bout lunch on Friday for my normal trek to the slower pace of life in rural GA. Stopped by the local grocer and picked up ground chuck, a big ol onion, brown mustard.

So, I follow the recipe to a tee:
  • A heap of chopped onion slowly cooked down in a big ol heap of pure butter on low heat so as not to burn the butter and cook the onions to a translucent color.
  • A big squirt of brown mustard into the onions once they cooked to proper tenderness with a splash of white wine. Mix all together and remove from heat.
  • Sesame seed buns prepped Texas Toast style grilled on both sides in butter until a little crispy brown.
  • Bout 1/2 lb ground chuck patty cooked to medium and then heaped with the onions and covered with cheese of your choice (I used 2 slices of Meunster). Dome the cheese to melt down into the onions.
  • Then spread each side of the bun in a nice layer of soft butter. Yep...this thing calls for a lot of butter. No mayo, ketchup, pickles, mater, lettuce, etc...just the brown mustard in the onions and a whole bunch of butter.
  • Place patty covered in cheese and onions on the buttered buns and let rest till the butter oozes.
  • Enjoy. Holy Cow!!! I was solo on this trip but definitely gonna make this for the crew when we gather. Paired it with Ruffles jalapeno n sour cream chips. For some reason, Ruffles have a unique crunch that Lays can't match. You WI folks know how to make one fine burger!

Sounds yummy. I'd call it the double clogged artery. You can't have too much butter. A lady goes into a restaurant and says; Could I have extra buttah? The waiter says, sure, what do you want it on? The lady says; On my pwate!
Pennsylvania Dutch cooking includes a lot of brown butter on noodles, mashed potatoes, or veggies. It's interesting that some people in certain parts of the country don't even know what brown butter is...
A man allegedly went into a local grocery store here and asked the clerk what shelf he could find the brown butter on?

I call it Friday night cheat night and man do I cheat from time to time. Often end up at the farm solo on Friday nights and after a week of salads, veggies, soups, lil meat n so on I tend to blow it out on friday nights. Must say the amount of butter that goes on to all of the above led me to believe I'd be tasting nothing but butter but much to my surprise...just added to the flavor. Usually a burger or slaw/chili dogs on friday nights. Got a rabbit hunt coming up saturday and gonna put on a big pot of chili for the crew. But still plotting and scheming on what'll be on the menu for tomorrow night. Waiting on the sauce to be delivered from Amazon that Okie posted up. Gonna give that a whirl on a boston butt when it comes in.
