Deer meat

Looking to see if anyone has any deer meat. Can't hunt this year due to injury I can process myself if needed just looking for 2 deer if possible. Drexel nc area.

I'd link up with Hunters for the Hungry in your area. Years ago, I was one of the founders of Suburban Whitetail Management of Northern Virginia. We put highly experienced bowhunters in the DC suburbs on properties where homeowners were having landscaping damage from deer. Needless to say, folks in that suburban environment can be pretty litigious which tended to scare homeowners. We ending up running bowhunters through qualifications and getting liability insurance to help calm the fears. In addition, we required our bowhunter to donate 1 deer per year to Hunters for the Hungry. We also held charity events to raise money and donated a portion to them.

After working directly with the folks for H4H in that area, we quickly found out their limitation was not donated deer, but funding to pay for the processing. Ever since then, instead of donating deer, I donate money to H4H. It is very easy in our state as there is a place to check when buying your hunting license that allows you to donate during that process. It is a great reminder for a great organization.

Since many of the members of this forum are spread out across the country, I think you would do better checking with a local organization like H4H. They may even be able to skip paying for processing deer for you since you can process them yourself. They have many chapters in many states. I suggest looking to see if there is one local to you.

I would give it some more time and try the program again. Seasons are just getting started across most of the country and with the high temps few people are probably hunting yet. In another month or 2 I would guess there will be opportunities to get access to some venison.

Contact NCBHA, they might have someone close to you.

You’re not too terribly far from my place, could possibly get a deer to you later on this year.
